In continuity with the action plan for communities near industrial centers, Ternium made a new contribution of medical equipment to pitch in the strengthening of the health system within the region. This week, more than 17 million Argentine pesos in medical equipment were donated through the Agustin & Enrique Rocca Foundation.
In San Nicolas, Argentina, a Direct Digital Radiological device and specific furnishings to equip the laboratory were donated to the San Felipe Hospital. Moreover, the Sanatorium Nuestra Señora Del Rosario, clinic of the Metallurgic Workers Union (UOM, for its acronym in Spanish), was also provided with a second device for real-time COVID-19 (PCR) testing. In the case of the Zona Norte Hospital, the donation was an Ultrasound Transducer.
In Ramallo, the José María Gomendio Municipal Hospital received funds for the purchase of 1 vacuum pump, 2 defibrillators, 7 infusion pumps, 2 syringe pumps, 2 multi-parameter monitors, 1 crash cart, 2 electrocardiograph machines, 1 nursing station, 4 anti-decubitus mattresses, 1 electric scalpel, among other items that contribute to the improvement of patient care.
The donated equipment was requested by the directors of these health centers considering their main needs and the importance of such equipment to face the COVID-19 pandemic.
In the case of the Zona Norte Hospital in San Nicolás, the donation was an Ultrasound Transducer.
Ternium Argentina's plan to strengthen the region's health centers began in March 2020, having donated the following equipment and supplies:
25 respirators (16 for intensive care and 9 for intermediate care)
1 ambulance (Mobile Intensive Care Unit)
2 thermal cyclers for COVID detection and PCR reagents
2 X-Ray machines
75 special beds for Intensive Care and hospitalization (with mattresses and pillows)
126 high-tech medical equipment and devices: multi-parameter monitors, infusion pumps and syringe infusion pumps, oxygen manometers, flowmeters, among others).
1 laminar flow cabinet for laboratory
1 tomograph
1 ultrasound transducer
Biosafety supplies and kits: 400 liters of hand sanitizer, 2,000 N95 respirator masks, 6,000 face masks, 2,435 disposable coveralls, 1,000 safety goggles, 6,000 gloves, and 650 3D masks.
In addition, metal sheets were donated for infrastructure repairs while cash donations covered the cost of renting sanitary modules and the restructuring of hospital spaces.
