The social project Educarte inaugurated on Friday, April 16, the exhibition "Romanticism in Brazil through the Eye of a Child". Supported by Ternium, this project is managed by Atelier Social Ecoar das Artes, located in Santa Cruz neighborhood. Because of the pandemic, this year's edition will be the first to be held fully online and features about 200 artworks produced by 41 children aged between 8 and 15 years. The exhibition features dolls, vases, cameos, canvases of various sizes, and picture frames of different models.
According to Mateus Moura, a collaborator at the Atelier, they hope that this exhibition can reach the community widely. “Our expectation is the best possible, considering all the commitment of the team and the quality of the material made by our children. We want to reach the community and generate great appreciation for art. Our desire is that each person who have contact with the exhibition will be impacted by the power of Brazilian Romanticism,” explains Mateus.
THEME
Inspired by the Brazilian Romanticism movement, this year's edition is influenced by personalities who marked the epoch in Brazil and made a vast contribution to the legacy of the artistic community. The painters Victor Meirelles, Eliseu Visconti, and Agostinho José da Mota were some of the examples used as a reference in the exhibition. Nowadays, their works serve as inspiration for the youth who took part in the newest edition of the event promoted by the Educarte project, which was directed especially with the intention of broadening the cultural repertoire of the community involved.
The main purpose of opting for this theme is to promote national identity, as well as the original Romanticism movement. The project aims to rescuing the appreciation for the Brazilian culture, work and history through the activities and artworks undertaken. Eliete Gomes, the founder of Atelier Social, says she is very pleased with the result of everyone's efforts. “I have no words to express my joy with the performance of this work. In such difficult times, the phrase that defines Educarte makes sense now: ‘For the passion of educating and the challenge to always innovate.’ There were challenging days and sleepless nights working on every detail, everything with great care and love,” says Eliete.
Ternium's HR Director, Ivani Silveira, highlighted all the effort and dedication in making this event happen. “Even with so many difficulties, such as online classes, the result shows that art and education have a great power of transformation. Ternium is very proud to partner in this initiative,” she said.
All the material on the virtual exhibition "Romanticism in Brazil through the Eye of a Child" is available on the website of Atelier Social Ecoar das Artes.
