Along with Techhint Group, we were awarded for our communicational work in Argentina as the best campaign related to COVID crisis and, in the category “Sustainability in education”, we were awarded for the program Technical Gen and the campaign realized for the inauguration of the Robotics Lab in the Technical School No. 6 of San Nicolás. We won the international award in the “Events” category for the end-of-the-year virtual meeting for Ternium’s employees, which took place in December 2020.
Eikon awards started in 1998 as a form of recognition for the work of communicators, people from public relations, journalists, people from marketing, and event organizers in relation to different communication projects. The aspects evaluated are innovation, creativity, and results, among others.
Generating a global plan that will reach the whole group, but respect each business unit was the great communication challenge of the PRESENT campaign.
Being PRESENT, is more than a campaign linked to COVID.
Communication during COVID was a wide part of the integral strategy realized by Techint Group, which has a strong bond with its communities. The first step to identify which was the most suitable help, a population and sanitary system analysis per community was carried out. Then, a consequential reinforcement plan was designed alongside the directors of each hospital.
An action plan of such scale implied communication efforts in different directions. A global communication plan was consolidated, with the presence of the media, social networking, and internal communications for employees.
All social networking that focuses on communities where Techint Group is inserted is intended to transmit high-quality information with the recommended guidelines provided by the local, regional, and national sanitary authorities, about prevention and health care, with the objective of making the citizens conscious about this topic. These contents also were present at an internal communicational level in each society, using diverse channels to reach collaborators and vendors’ personnel: Intranet, WhatsApp business, plant journals, posters, and interventions in common and collective spaces. In this way, a global plan that would reach the whole group and respect the identities of each unit was achieved, bringing something solid in these times of uncertainty.
The campaign was awarded as the best campaign linked to COVID crisis in the category “Sustainability in health,” in the EIKON Awards 2021.
Technical education as the key for sustainability: Technical Gen
The program Technical Gen is known for being one of the main research areas in education within the communities of Ternium Argentina.
Its communication also was awarded in the EIKON Awards 21 in the category “Sustainability in education.” The awarded case describes the campaign for the inauguration of a Robotics and Automation Lab in Technical School No. 6 of San Nicolás, which today is one of the best equipped of all the public schools of the country and a great achievement for the development of the Technical Gen program.
The building was built with the support of Ternium Argentina and the Agustín and Enrique Rocca Brothers Foundation and required an investment of $18.000.000 which impacted 630 students.
“We believe that technical education is one of the foundations for the future of our community, industry, and students. And we must continue supporting their development with the integration of the private sector and the public sector” Martín Berardi, CEO of Ternium Argentina, said.

With the limitations of the actual situation, Ternium decided to organize for the first time, a virtual and interactive event that was transmitted simultaneously to three countries: Mexico, Brazil, and Argentina. In which famous artists participated, like Julieta Venegas, Abel Pinos, and Los Paralamas. The objective was to have an end-of-the-year meeting, in which more than 10.000 collaborators of 7 countries participated, also, they had the opportunity to share, create raffles, and send good wishes.
In this case, Ternium was nominated and won the international award of the “Events” category.
