Inside Ternium's Palmar de Varela Plant

Share

In the midst of the current situation, the Ternium plant on the Caribbean Coast is moving forward with its internal activities to start operating.

In 2018, the investment began with the new rolling mill that is being built in the department of Atlántico, which will be an opportunity to bring technological development into the region, and contribute to the improvement of the national industry.

The main activities that have been worked on involve the electrical, water and gas infrastructure, the assembly of the metallic structure and the foundations of the central nave, which is about to be done.

With this plant, Ternium will triple the long steel production capacity in Colombia.

With this plant, Ternium will triple the long steel production capacity in Colombia.

The plant initially expected to start before April 15, but the COVID-19 pandemic forced the start-up of the mill to be postponed for the first quarter of 2021.

With this new industrial complex, Ternium will produce more than 700 thousand tons of production capacity per year for steel bars and steel rolls used in the construction sector.

The new production center was conceived under the philosophy of environmental responsibility and eco-efficiency, which led to the implementation of new technologies for the responsible use of resources, including the reuse of 97% of process water and the energy consumption optimization of the production equipment and lighting systems.
