In alliance with the Municipal Department of Health, Ternium reopened on the 11th the Ernani de Paiva Ferreira Braga Family Clinic in Santa Cruz. The unit was subject to an extensive renovation in which around USD 450.000 were invested in structural and equipment improvements.
The clinic has eight teams in family health, two teams in dental health, and one team from the Extended Family Health Center (NASF, by its initials in Portuguese); it benefits approximately 29,000 residents of the area. During construction, the unit kept working and helping the residents.
Nine offices were renovated, such as the oral health office; in addition to areas for women's health and children's health, sonography and X-rays, clinical observation, reception, bandaging, recollection, meetings, administration, cafeteria, pharmacy, warehouse, immunization, endemic, purge and sterilization, vaccination, as well as the cultural and ideas center, dressing room, male and female bathrooms, and the external area of the unit.
The ceremony had the presence of the Municipal Health Department, Ternium, clinic personnel, and community leaders.
"Santa Cruz is our home. The Ernani de Paiva Ferreira Braga Family Clinic was another initiative done by Ternium to support the population of the neighborhood facing the coronavirus pandemic, as well as leaving a post-pandemic legacy in the region," said Fernanda Candeias, Community Relation Manager at Ternium, during the reopening ceremony.
Patients have a clinic and dental attention, treatment for hypertension, diabetes and prenatal attention, clinical and laboratory trials, child health attention, and vaccination, among others. They can also get free medication from the Primary Health Care Center. The clinic treats around 6,000 people monthly.
"I would like to thank you for the remodeling of this unit; it is very important for the Juan XXIII area. Thanks a lot to Ternium and everyone involved in the remodeling," said Daniel Soranz, Health Secretary of the Municipality of Rio.

The Ernani Braga Family Clinic operates at the Joao XXII Avenue, near Ternium's entrance, Monday to Friday, from 7:00 am to 8:00 pm, and Saturdays, from 7:00 am to 12:00 pm.
