Values such as loyalty and commitment are among those most appreciated by a person. And loyalty and commitment can be expressed in many ways, including towards your job.
Proof of this is the stories of Juan José Dávila, an accounting analyst, and Fernando Robles, who is a process engineer for the customized department, who's been working for the company for the last 30 and 35 years, respectively.
Both men have two shared passions: work and sports
When he joined the Tax Department at IMSA in 1991, Juan did not imagine that thirty years would flash by in the twinkling of an eye. It’s all very well to say three decades, but the secret of his long career is defined by a single value: his passion for work.
In all these years of experience, Juan has passed through many different departments, from Internal Controls, Policies, and the Audit area, to the Central American Comptroller's Office based in Guatemala, which he managed.
Finally, after many years of experience in this Central American country, he returned to Mexico in 2000 as the Head of Fixed Assets, Insurance and Investment Projects. One of the experiences he remembers with the greatest enthusiasm was the role he played in migrating information to the new SAP system, an experience that he enjoyed as it was at the same time as Ternium arrived on the scene.
"Participating and being involved in these types of projects gives one the opportunity to grow and understand more about how the business works," explained Juan.

Today, Juan works as an accounting analyst and acts as the liaison with the company's Tax department. However, his love for work is offset by other activities that he's also passionate about softball and soccer.
Juan has often played in the tournaments organized by the company, frequently coming out as champion in both softball and soccer games. He has even been awarded the accolade of the best pitcher in some of the seasons where he’s been involved.
“I had the chance to become pitching champion with my Broncos team. I’ve had so many wonderful times over these thirty years, both at work and in sports. My family has always supported me, and I can honestly say that the experience of teamwork with my colleagues has been a key part of this,” he highlighted.
The joy of coming home
Getting a new job is always bound to put a spring in your step, as Fernando says, recalling how on November 1, 1986, he signed his contract to work at Galvak, which is today Ternium.
He started out as a Quality inspector on the Galvanized line and has since passed through the areas of Raw Materials, Painted Line 1, Transformed products, and Mill 2. He currently works as a Process Engineer at the customized line in Planta Juventud.

In 2005, with the arrival of Ternium, and some thirty-five years in the company to his credit, the Customized process engineer continued to work, ready to adapt to changes. "The most important challenge has to do with all the changes taking place with these new technologies," he commented.
Fernando joined the company as a metallurgical technician, but his enthusiasm to learn and grow in the company motivated him to study to become an administrative mechanical engineer some ten years after joining Galvak. “I’m convinced that the greatest satisfaction is to continue working here and it’s only been thirty-five years! Let's hope I can hold out a little longer!”
For this family man, the support of his loved ones has always been very important, especially when he was both studying engineering and working at the same time.
