Share

Week I was from October 26th to 29th.

Students from the Technical School Roberto Rocca (TSRR) and from the Tecnologico de Monterrey, joined for the development of education.

For the first time, from October 26th to 29th, students from both schools participated jointly in the Innovation Week (Week I) from Tecnologico de Monterrey.

This week has a goal to strengthen the skills of students based on innovation, cooperation, and new opportunities through different forums, workshops, and tours.

In the course of these days, students enjoyed diverse conferences focused on technology and innovation by Ternium experts, as well as from Tec de Monterrey. Students also explored the facilities of the new Hot Rolling Mill located in Pesqueria.

As a part of the activities, 19 students from TSRR, who were also Ternium trainees in different factories, presented innovation projects alongside 22 students from Tecnologico de Monterrey

These projects consisted of proposals to improve and solve different problems that occur during operations in the factories.

It is the first time that Tec de Monterrey and TSRR unite for the Week I activities.

“Projects were very innovative, it was a joint work that allowed them to grow their skills and refine their knowledge”, emphasized the director from TSRR, Efren Castillo.

On the other hand, Marco Ruiz, Academic Deputy Director from TSRR pointed out the experience students lived through the Innovation Week. “I think we have the elements to aim for more Week I editions here with us.”

During the event activities, Jorge Rada, Industrial, Quality and Tenigal Systems Manager, imparted a conference about the digital transformation process of the company.

In the conference, Rada pointed out the Academic Link program from Ternium with different universities from the community in which he included the students from TSRR to make innovation proposals with the goal of promoting professional growth.

As a part of the activities, 19 students from TSRR, who were also Ternium trainees in different factories, presented innovation projects alongside 22 students from Tecnologico de Monterrey.

“In this Week I we organized for the first time, we integrated students from Tec de Monterrey with Students from TSRR to participate in innovative projects. They worked into generating ideas, defining methods, and designing proposals” emphasized Rada.

“An extra objective we covered was that students from Tec know Ternium and its social commitment, besides, that students from TSRR know the Instituto Tecnologico y de Estudios Superiores Monterrey and its tuition programs to encourage them to pursue a college degree. It was a very good week because we achieved the objective we aimed for.”

The students from both institutions attended a tour to the Ternium Industrial Center.

Talent Acquisition Analyst in Ternium Mexico, José Pérez, mentioned that this kind of activities it is aimed to enhance the relationship with diverse universities through the knowledge exchange in subjects related to Industry 4.0 with a scope in innovation. Besides, boosting the interaction between students from TSRR and professionally allows the sharing of nurturing and memorable life experiences.

Regina Quiroga, a student from TSRR and attendant to Week I said that she was able to live an experience of incredible learning. “It nurtured us a lot in the sense of technique by doing research. It left me happy and with the urge to look for something better in regards to opportunities, and to climb higher”.

“I feel that it was a week full of knowledge because I could cooperate along with students from Tec and make a project. It was a really good choice cooperating with them”, said Hector Villela, a student from TSRR.

In this tour, the students met the new Hot Rolling Mill.
