Ternium and FAME: Shaping Tomorrow's Manufacturing Leaders Together

Share

Ternium seeks to foster the workforce of the future through its ongoing partnership with the Federation for Advanced Manufacturing Education (FAME).

Over the past year, Ternium joined forces with FAME, a program dedicated to empowering students to become highly skilled, globally competitive, and well-rounded professionals who can meet the unique demands of today's modern manufacturing industry.

This unique collaboration revolves around Ternium's sponsorship of the FAME program, which plays a pivotal role in recruiting and guiding students. These students are enrolled in local community colleges, where they attend classes two days a week. Simultaneously, they receive practical training directly at the facilities of sponsoring employers like Ternium, for three days a week, all while earning a wage. Nahuel Arboiro, Human Resources Manager at Ternium, elaborates on the program's structure, emphasizing its blend of academic and practical training.

While primarily designed for college-ready high school graduates interested in pursuing a career in manufacturing, the FAME program is inclusive, welcoming individuals of all ages, including career changers and veterans seeking opportunities in the manufacturing sector.

Bianca Rachlin, Human Resources Analyst at Ternium, highlights FAME's role in uniting manufacturers to implement a successful model of skill development, transforming hands-on education into rewarding careers.

Rodrigo Salazar, Operations Director at Ternium Shreveport Plant, underscores the comprehensive nature of FAME's Advanced Manufacturing Technician (ATM) program. This program encompasses technical core courses, manufacturing exercises, professional development, and practical experience, providing students with a holistic understanding of the manufacturing process. Salazar emphasizes that ATM Program students not only acquire technical knowledge but also have the chance to apply their learning in a real-world work environment, preparing them for the challenges of the manufacturing industry.

FAME's mission is to equip students with the skills and knowledge needed to thrive in today's competitive manufacturing workforce. This two-year, debt-free program empowers students to gain valuable technical expertise while pursuing a specialized degree.

Ternium's partnership with FAME exemplifies its dedication to shaping the manufacturing leaders of tomorrow, creating opportunities for individuals from diverse backgrounds to embark on a rewarding career path in the dynamic world of modern manufacturing.
