Ternium in México signed a voluntary agreement with the National Commission for the Efficient Use of Energy (CONUEE, for its acronym in Spanish), committing to implement continuous improvement projects in energy consumption at the Guerrero Plant.
This agreement was signed during an online event, in which public officers and other nine companies participated.
“We know and believe that, by means of this new agreement with the CONUEE, Ternium will be able to reinforce these and other initiatives, with the aim of contributing from the private and the steel sector to which we belong, to consolidate Mexico as a country that is increasingly more sustainable and aware of the rational use of energy”, said César Jiménez, Ternium Mexico's CEO.

Ternium started working on this voluntary agreement with the CONUEE, part of the Secretariat of Energy (SENER, for its acronym in Spanish), in January 2020, when personnel from the federal agency and the Danish Energy Agency visited the Guerrero Plant facilities.
The agreement was signed right after the company's announcement of an investment plan of 500 million dollars in eco-friendly projects and technologies. The investment will be mainly used for the plants in Mexico, Argentina, and Brazil.
In addition, this environmental investment plan runs in parallel to a decarbonization plan announced by the company at the end of February, an initiative that aims to reduce CO2 emissions by 20% in all Ternium plants by 2030.
