Ternium-TIC Awards: Awarding the future of Mexico

Share

22 students received a scholarship in this ninth edition.

For Ternium, the education is an important pillar for the social mobility and development in Mexico.

One of the company’s programs with the largest trajectory to achieve this objective is the Ternium-Technological Institute of Colima (TIC) Award, which, in its ninth edition, awarded 22 graduated students from said school with scholarships.

Since 2012, Ternium has donated 175 scholarships to graduated TIC students, in which it has invested more than 40 thousand dollars. These scholarships are directed to graduated students with the highest grades in Bachelor’s degrees and Master’s degrees offered by the TIC,

From the 22 scholarships awarded in the August-December 2019 and January-June 2020 period, in the online event, 20 were granted to Bachelor’s degrees and the other two to Master’s degrees.

“This award wouldn’t have been possible without the constant support from the Technological Institute of Colima, an educational institution that represents great values and provides high quality education. In those classrooms, the people who are Colima’s and the country’s future develop their abilities,” Manuel Héctor Martínez, Ternium’s Human Resources Director, mentioned.

“In Ternium, the education is an important pillar for the social mobility and development in Mexico. We are convinced that the education is crucial to prepare the future leaders who will establish the basis for a better life quality in each community,” Martínez assured.

Up today, Ternium has granted 175 scholarships to graduated students from the TIC.

On the other hand, Jaime Flores Merlo, Education Secretary, highlighted the importance in the education support for the formation of tomorrow’s leaders.

“This award gave us the opportunity to mention the important role that Ternium has as a leader company in the miner sector, job and productivity source, which contributes to other areas, like environment protection and community development, that is a strong characteristic of Ternium that deserves to be recognized.”

“We are grateful for having this alliance with Ternium to support and encourage our graduated students that can enter, not just the working sector, but also be part of post-graduated studies in other local or foreign sectors,” Ana Rosa Braña, National Technological Institute of Mexico, campus Colima, added.

On the other hand, Ángel Véjar, mechatronics engineer degree student, expressed some words in behalf of the graduated students.

“Thanks Ternium, for recognizing the individual and collective efforts of the awarded people. It is a pleasure to know that today we are still progressing in our personal and professional life, whether we continue studying a postgraduate degree, working in a company or starting a new one,” he said.
