What would daily life be without a refrigerator or stove? Whether we're talking about engines, utensils or all types of covers, steel is present in most of the modern homes around the world.
Household appliances are devices used to do daily chores easily and efficiently, from food preservation to household cleaning. This is why they are an essential part of most homes today.
Originally, refrigerators were large wooden boxes in which a piece of ice was placed. Bonfires were used instead of stoves and clothes were hand-washed. And so, many of these daily activities used to require much more time and effort, while also being highly polluting.
The first electrical appliances were invented in the 19th century, but their use was expanded due to mass production and the development of power grids. Not only it transformed the dynamics in households but also in entire communities by allowing the incorporation of women into the labor force.
Additionally, many rural communities were able to improve their living conditions thanks to the galvanized sheet roofing.

Hot or cold steel?
The rise of these new domestic technologies was possible thanks to steel. From frames and covers to internal mechanisms and structural elements, this material is the most widely used due to its durability, resistance, and malleability, which allow the creation of high-quality pieces with different uses.
For example, a washing machine must withstand cycles of between 800 and 1,400 revolutions per minute, as well as temperature changes and chemicals in the water, soap, fabric softener, and bleach, without losing their properties during the life cycle of the appliance.
Steel is also ideal for the manufacture of covers for refrigerated chambers and freezers since it prevents the formation of fungi and bacteria. Moreover, by being easy to clean and requiring minimal maintenance, it considerably extends the life cycle compared to other materials.
One type of steel that is widely used in the manufacture of major appliances is the pre-painted sheet, which receives a galvanized finish and a coat of paint on both sides of its surface. This makes it more attractive and gives it an extra layer of strength, unlike the uncoated steel.
The aesthetic aspect is another attribute of painted steel appliances since it can be combined with different materials and colors, facilitating its integration in traditional and modern kitchens as it provides greater durability and resistance to corrosion.

High-Quality Steel
Ternium provides a wide range of steel alloys to the manufacturers of household appliances. These materials are produced under the highest quality standards to be used in housings for washing machines, air conditioners, heaters, water heaters, refrigerators, stoves, and much more.
Painted steel is available in white and sand colors, or it can be manufactured in special colors from a minimum tonnage, depending on the customer's needs or the nature of the project.
