Committed to the Mexican medical community

Share

The hospitals selected lie in two of the communities where the company has operations.

To help tackle the health emergency unleashed by the coronavirus, Ternium has donated biosafety kits to IMSS Hospital 67, located on the edge of Apodaca and Pesquería, and to the Area General Hospital

Each kit includes 3,000 protective coveralls, 2,000 N95 surgical facemasks, 3,000 disposable facemasks, 3,000 gowns, 3,000 pairs of latex gloves, 3,000 pairs of disposable shoe covers, 500 protective eye glasses, 1,000 nasopharyngeal swabs, 300 face shields and 300 liters of antibacterial gel, explains Pedro Román, Head of Community Relations and Benefits at Ternium Mexico.

One hundred and forty of the 300 face shields were made using 3D printers by a team of teachers from the Roberto Rocca Technical School (ETRR), in Pesquería, Nuevo León, who designed and manufactured them using equipment and material from this educational institution.

“The hospitals selected lie near two of the communities where the company has operations; one close to the Industrial Center in Pesquería and the other neighboring the plan in San Miguel Xoxtla, Puebla,” points out Pedro Román. He adds that the 67th IMSS Hospital in Apodaca is a medical center equipped with the right infrastructure to deal with intensive therapy cases for this disease.

"Our aim is to support the communities where Ternium is present, in addition to helping medical personnel in their fight against COVID-19," says Román. The kits include the medical equipment required to care for COVID-19 patients, and quantities are scheduled to last three months.

This is one of the many support actions taken by Ternium, showcasing its commitment to the community and to medical personnel in the face of a health emergency.
