Coronavirus - Comprehensive Management Plan at Ternium

Ternium implemented a comprehensive plan to mitigate the risk of infection of coronavirus (COVID-19) at all its locations, both industrial and commercial. The health and safety of our people, as well as service to our customers, remain our top priority.

This page will be continually updated to provide information on our response to this rapidly evolving situation.

The safety of our people

To guarantee the safety of our people, we have taken the following measures:

  • Work Remotely

    Working Remotely has been implemented to all employees who, due to their functions, can do so and provided that operational continuity is not affected.

  • Travel

    Business travel has been suspended, except in critical cases to low-risk locations. And personal travel to risky countries is discouraged.

  • Social Distance

    It is required to respect the social distance of at least one meter between people, both in industrial plants and in common spaces (locker rooms, dining rooms, etc.), including our contractor personnel.

  • Communication

    The best practices regarding personal hygiene and safe behaviors to avoid infection are being regularly communicated to all our collaborators and to the community where we operate.

Continuity of operations

We have established crisis management committees at all Ternium plants to closely monitor the development of events related to the virus and implement and adjust action plans, as necessary.

  • A complete disinfection routine has been established in our factories and facilities. This includes, for example, regular cleaning of all critical control rooms and workstations.

  • We are making extreme efforts to limit social contact to avoid infection. In our facilities, a maximum number of people has been established in each work station to respect the recommended social distance.

  • We place gel alcohol dispensers in our facilities and recommend the use of masks in specific cases, in accordance with the recommendations of local authorities and the Ministry of Health, depending on availability.

Relationship with our clients

We are working closely with our clients, promoting the integral and constant use of WebService, our digital tool that allows virtual and remote access to the entire Ternium business cycle in real time. This includes access to the detail of all orders, payments, delivery plans, among other elements. Through our social networks we are close to our chain of value sharing experiences and good practices, as well as all the preventive measures implemented so that our clients and suppliers can also apply them. Likewise, the programs and trainings were transferred to a virtual format.

Given the uncertainty around the spread of COVID-19 and the imposition of protective measures, it is not possible to predict all the effects that the health crisis may have on our operations and supply chain. We are constantly reviewing orders and remain in close contact with our customers, keeping them up to date about the situation.

Supporting our communities

We have launched a support action plan in all the countries where we have a presence to help communities where we operate. We create awareness about the importance of protective measures in the more vulnerable populations and, wherever possible, and to contribute to their labor, supporting hospitals by giving them monitoring and respiratory devices.
